7-27 TUESDAY

Left at 8:30 for the shop where we met the Ranger (Preston). Took the parks boat and went out to 25 Mile where we launched the boat in the Chilkat River. The boat is a flat bottom with a jet pump motor. The river is VERY shallow in places. We hung up on a sand bar twice and Bob had to get out and push us off. We went about 15 miles up the river. People usually travel in pairs up here so the Forestry Service boat went with us. We were trying to take a measurement of a channel for the Parks Department and the Forestry Service was marking GPS locations on the river.

It was a very beautiful day!
Got back in to town at 5:30. Headed right over to Taco Tuesday at the elks then back to camp to “count the chickens”.

Not quite full tonight. 68 degrees and sunny.
